Respironics - Design Researcher/Interaction Designer

Description:  Respironics is seeking an exceptional Design Researcher/ Interaction Designer to join our newly formed design team. This individual will play a key role in developing human-centered design and innovation within Respironics. The focus of the work will be on understanding, developing and delivering compelling product solutions and experiences. To this end this individual will be fluent in approach and the necessary tools that can demonstrate their ability to understand the people that use our products, their patterns of behavior and the context in which they interact.

Outcomes: The successful candidate will:

• Be able to work independently as a Design Researcher/Interaction Designer on multidisciplinary product development teams to take concepts from concept through production.
• Thrive in a fast paced, team oriented, new product development environment.
• Contribute to defining Respironics design strategies and design languages.
• Research and develop designs for new physical and digital interaction approaches and technologies that can be used for prototyping and testing
• Research, identify, analyze and communicate an understanding of the user in varying markets and use appropriate tools such as scenario and persona development to communicate and utilize this research.
• Work with other members of the design team to initiate design research led projects that address potential future ways using products.
• Assist team in establishing and refining product, program and Brand requirements.

Educational Requirements: BA or MA in product design, multi-media design, interaction design, psychology, human factors, ergonomics, cognitive science or related degree.

Physical Requirements: This position functions in an office and operations environment and requires fine manipulation and simple grasping in order to utilize the computer and other standard office equipment such as telephone, fax machines, copiers, etc. Ability to travel.
