Human Factor Architect (Northern California)
The focus of this Human Factors Architect is to represent the end user throughout the process of creating functional and static content for 30+ global websites and other Web-enabled initiatives throughout the company. This position will link business strategy to user needs in an effective setting, drawing on an analytical mindset and deep understanding of usability best practices.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Drive the usability process from its analysis phase through content
deployment.
Participate in the discovery and requirements gathering phase, with direct
responsibility for contextual interviews of stakeholders and end users and
competitive benchmarking.
Create and implement one-on-one usability studies, online surveys, interview
questionnaires, and reports that include actionable recommendations.
Participate in the Web interface design process with responsibility for
organization and classification of site content, navigation, page flows and
language/labeling conventions. Structure information and task flow to make it
easy to find information and complete tasks. Define all levels of navigation,
functional flows, and presentation of information at the page level. Create wire
frames detailing page layout and content prominence to be used by visual
designers and developers in building the interface. Be alert for opportunities
to improve processes and workflow and suggest changes as appropriate.
Consult with domestic and international business units to assist them in
applying user-centered approach to Web and email content. Review content created
by business units for proper flow and successful communication of message (this
is not proofreading for grammar and spelling).
Stay abreast of new developments in fields of usability, information
architecture and financial services industry-specific issues.
Background Requirements:
3 or more years experience as a usability professional, creating the user
experience on websites and/or Web-based applications.
Demonstrated expertise with user-centered design process and Web usability
best practices.
Evidence of continuing education in fields of usability and information
architecture.
Bachelors degree, with major in Human Computer Interaction, Human Factors
Engineering, English, Communications, Psychology, or equivalent work experience.
Excellent communication and project management skills.
Proficiency in MS Visio, or equivalent UI prototyping software.
Self-starter with ability to collaborate with clients as a consultant and to
work independently with minimal supervision.
Familiarity with financial topics and mutual fund industry a plus.

Compensation: $95,000 plus 10% bonus plus excellent benefits
