Bath Iron Works (BIW) is currently recruiting for entry level Human Factors Engineers to work in our Bath, Maine shipyard

Detailed Description of Work: Provide Human Factors Engineering domain expertise within BIW’s Human System Integration (HSI) group:

Provide human factors expertise to engineers, designers, and US Navy customers for development of, and/or changes to, ship systems, including but not limited to: - Ergonomics - Cognitive Psychology - Functional and Task Analysis - Human Performance
Provide Human Computer Interface (HCI) expertise within the HSI group
Perform as member of HSI team supporting multiple programs, and ship classes, assisting with the development of processes and methodologies
Develop and deliver presentations to management and/or Navy personnel
Responsible for updating existing, and developing new as applicable, HSI/HCI procedures, in accordance with ISO 9001

Qualifications for Position:

Bachelor’s Degree with advanced study in ergonomics or human factors analysis required
Educational or Practical concentration in HCI required
Masters degree in Human Factors Engineering (HFE) preferred
Able to effectively work in a multi-discipline team (with engineers, designers, etc.)
Experience with User Interface prototyping tools and UMIL preferred
Experience with specification development preferred
Experience with Rational Rose, UML, and Iterative software design techniques preferred
Strong oral and written skills
Prior experience working in US Navy or DOD programs preferred
Ability to be proactive in seeking out and applying HSI/HCI concepts
Ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal direction, and demonstrated capacity to work in team environment
