ERGONOMICS ENGINEER
 

Job Description:  Caterpillar Inc. is looking for a motivated and industrious individual to join the Ergonomics Research Team located at the Caterpillar Technical Center near Peoria, Illinois. This individual will be responsible for managing and directing the long-term ergonomic research that will be incorporated into future Caterpillar machines. This candidate should be a self-starter and capable of directing a team of researchers to achieve the vision of the group.

 

Qualifications: The candidate should be able to demonstrate comprehensive knowledge on Ergonomics research by having obtained a PhD in ergonomics or equivalent work experience in ergonomic research. The candidate must possess a strong desire to do forward-thinking research and have a degree in ergonomics. The candidate must possess the skills to assume project leadership while maintaining appropriate relationships with external research organizations, machine design engineers, and technical program managers. The candidate must demonstrate the aptitude for leadership, teamwork, and the ability to plan and organize projects. The successful candidate will also possess strong technical ability, communicate succinctly, relate well to others, and demonstrate high personal work standards. Candidates must be proficient using word processing, spreadsheet, and database computer programs.

 

Additional Information:

Highly Desired: Experience or knowledge in the human factors design process, human simulation, occupational biomechanics, control functionality, and cognitive process definition are highly desired. The ability to document and assess control functionality for improving man-computer interfaces is also desired.
