We are currently seeking an Ergonomics Specialist to work in
our Employee/Student Health Services Department. The selected candidate will be responsible
for overseeing all activities necessary to develop and implement a
comprehensive ergonomics program for University
Hospital which includes conducting
ergonomic surveys and investigations for the purposes of establishing on the
job hazards and corrective measures for prevention. Will conduct work site
evaluations to determine compliance. Provide staff training on proper work
practices and use of proper body mechanics to reduce risk of musculoskeletal
disorders. Collaborate with departments to provide guidance in the correct
selection, adjustment and use of work tools, equipment and furniture. Work with
departments to develop a library of the physical demands of all positions.
Develop purchasing and construction standards for University
Hospital. Develop ergonomic
training materials and methodologies and establish a process to identify at
risk employees and provide customized training specific to their needs. Will
establish a committee for ergonomics. Encourage wellness actives such as
physical fitness, weight management and smoking cessation.
This is a grant funded temporary position.
Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Ergonomics,
Human Factors or closely related field and a minimum of 2 years relevant
experience required, preferably in a health care setting.
